2020- During the Covid epidemic I was employed by Shanghai American School and from January of 2020 through March, most of our faculty were spread over 30 countries around the world. From March 2020-Oct 2020, a little less than 50% of our faculty were on the ground back in Shanghai while the rest of the faculty remained elsewhere, forced to wait until they could return home to Shanghai and back to school. It was a struggle to remain connected as an SAS community but one way that I thought we could connect was through art. I asked my colleagues to send me selfies of them in masks, along with a quote starting with "SAS strong means....." I then used their photos as the foundation to create these digital illustrations and shared them with the community as I completed them. It warmed my heart to see how many participated and how these images continued to live on after most of our staff was able to return, as a reminder of the strength of our community even during this challenging time in history.
